As my understanding of the nature of picture making continues to develop, I increasingly, from time to time, find that my strong urge to express myself has connected with a made image. Two of my dominate interests, human behavior and New York City, seem to drive that urge.

People’s interactions, their intense engagement in various activities and their solitary immergence attract me. I strive to see their desires, their range of emotions and feelings; their despair. So much so that I myself may begin to experience some variant of those feelings. These are the kinds of pictures I wish to make.

About Me

Before photography, for 25 years I worked in child welfare, initially in direct service and then as the creator and director of a unique program that provided excellent interest development opportunities for children living in foster care.

I attended graduate school at NYU and also studied with and was supervised by psychologist Albert Ellis, one of the two originators of cognitive behavior therapy and the founder of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

I have attended photography classes at ICP and continue to study one- on-one with two teachers, to whom I am grateful for all I have learned and continue to learn.
